A firefighter is in stable condition after being stricken at the scene of a Kingston house fire Wednesday evening.
The fire was in a large farmhouse on Scotland Road and all residents escaped from the home, witnesses said.
CBS Boston reports that the firefighter collapsed early into the incident and CPR was being administered to member.
"The firefighter was fighting the fire at the time he went down, had a medical condition," Kingston Assistant Fire Chief Kent Walker told WCVB.com. "We had to kind of clear that medical issue and then get back to the fire."
Walker said the firefighter was in stable condition at Exeter Hospital and spending time with his family.
Fire officials said there was no water in the area, so they had to bring water into the scene from a nearby lake, which allowed the fire to grow quickly.
"Everybody was removed from the building. There were some animals also removed," Walker told WCVB. "Water supply was a challenge for us with the weather."
The fire consumed the home and a ladder truck used it's aerial master stream to knockdown heavy areas of fire as the roof collapsed.
